PSC 103: Introduction to Public Policy

Policy Portfolio Grading Rubric

Your policy paper should be a 3-6 page summary of the policy of your choice and an explicit connection of it to the main concepts we have discussed in class.  Using 3-4 articles from reputable news sources, establish a present policy frame for the particular policy you select.  Written just like a literature review, you should include an introduction (establishing the main policy that connects your source selections and organized the subsequent paper), a summary of the main arguments (no more than ½ the paper), and an application of this policy to the ideas learned in class.  Specifically, the application should be at least ½ the paper and discuss the policy and the theory in which this policy seems to be framed.  The paper should be double-spaced, 12 point font, normal margins with the actual article citations included (so I can find them later).  Due on Monday, April 15th at 11:00 am (late papers will be counted off).  If you have any questions, please e-mail me at lmsojka@crimson.ua.edu or come to my office hours and we can make sure you are on the right track.  Happy Writing!
